Los Angeles, Calif.: Trial of Harry Bridges, west coast C.I.O. leader, on two contempt charges growing out of a court action involving San Pedro longshoremen, is scheduled to start. Bridges was accused of releasing for publication a telegram he sent Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins, assertedly threatening a longshoreman's strike in the event a court decision went against the C.I.O. The other charge was based on alleged verbal threats made by Bridges to call a strike for the same reason. (Above) Harry Bridges is shown in he hall of court house, during recess. 9-6-38.
