Lapham shipowner of the so-called "Big Three" posing together on apparent accord. A few minutes after this was snapped they were the leading figures in a debate which place issues of the maritime strike before a crowd of 20,000 persons gathered in Exposition auditorium, San Francisco. The crowd heard both Bridges and Lapham declare that both the shipowners and striking unions want to end the strike quickly, the owners by arbitration and the strikers by winning their demands.".
