Newscopy: "ADMUNDSEN HONORED BY RITES IN SAN FRANCISCO--Photo shows two little San Francisco girls admiring the bronze plaque of Gjoa during the services. Gathered about the Gjoa, the humble little fishing boat with which Amundsen first won fame by navigation of the Northwest passage, San Franciscans took part in ceremonies commemorating the explorer's name and deeds. The deck of the Gjoa was heaped with flowers and leading members of the Norwegian colony, which sponsored the program, were speakers. Special emphasis was laid on the manner in which the Artic hero went to his last quest, which was one of succor to Commander Nobile and others of the ill-fated Italia expedition. The program was part of a world-wide observance of Amundsen's memory, held all over the world today, where Norwegian residents are, by order of the Norwegian government.".
