Newscopy: "FRAMEWORK OF HOLY VIRGIN CATHEDRAL -- Controversy rages around uncompleted church."
Written on back: A 140-ton framework of structural steel forms the framework of the new Holy Virgin Cathedral at 26th and Geary Streets in San Francisco. Main supporting members in the all-welded structure are eight Bethlehem 30-in wide-flange sections forming arches 50-ft. high and 60-ft across. A 6-1/2-ft square framework, composed of 16 WF 36 sections at each corner, will support a cupola, typical of Russian Orthodox architecture. Steelwork was fabricated and erected by Schrader Iron Works. Structural engineers were Pregnoff & Matheu of San Francisco.
