Folder: S.F. Districts-Telegraph Hill-Coit Tower.
Newscopy: "LAND MARK--Crowning Telegraph Hill is Coit Memorial Tower, a slim, fluted, concrete column designed by architect Arthur Brown Jr. The tower is named for Lillie Hitchcock Coit, life-long friend of the city's firemen, who in 1929 left funds to be used as a memorial monument to the volunteer firemen of the 1850's and 1860's. A glass-enclosed observation gallery on top of the monument is easily the finest in all of the Bay Area, but only a few San Franciscans realize they can reach the top any day from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m."
