Note attached to photo: "Enlisted men of the Army now make application for admission to the United States Military Academy at West Point. If nominated they are sent to the West Point Preparatory School to be trained for the entrance examinations. This picture shows the school in session at the Presidio with captain William S. Lawton, Assistant Commandant, instructing a class in English. There are 51 enlisted men now attending the school. They will take the West Point entrance examinations next spring.".
