These ribs will be exposed in the finished structure, which promises to be an architectural gem, adding to the beauty of the downtown San Francisco business area. The new building is expected to be ready for its owners some time this fall, according to the architects, Skidmore Owings and Merrill. the completed structure will be 70 feet in diameter with exterior walls composed entirely of 40 huge sheets of plate glass. This offers a view of the landscaped area which forms part of the complete plan for the block. The roof of the new building, which will be prominently seen from surrounding offices will be sheet copper, supported on pre-cast concrete panels in an accordion-pleated pattern.
