Newscopy: "One man was shot and two other persons were injured when a lone gunman attempted to hold up the Bank of America's Day and Night branch, Powell and Market-sts, shortly after noon today. Shoppers who thronged outside the bank, one of the city's largest branches at one of the busiest downtown intersections, narrowly escaped being hit by two of the slugs fired by the gunman in his escape. One of the bullets crashed through a heavy plate glass door and continued on over the heads of hundreds of persons outside the bank."
