POST AND MONTGOMERY intersection as it looks now, with the 13-story Crocker Bank building at the entrance to Montgomery Street. Crocker Bank is proposing a $115 million program of construction and preservation encompassing most of the block where the present bank building is the cornerstone. Plans call for removing the orange-red 11 upper office floors, preserving the neo-classic base and the interior banking hall, and creating a half-acre rooftop park above. The park will connect on its west side with a three-level glass-enclosed shopping/restaurant gallery featuring a Post-to-Sutter pedestrian thoroughfare.."
Note on photo (continued): "The gallery will link farther up the street with the 49-story Crocker Northern California headquarters building to be built at the corner of Post and Kearny. 'Opening up' the Montgomery-Post corner will allow the 22-story 111 Sutter Building, which Crocker is preserving, to emerge architecturally on its south side overlooking the park. 1/17/79."
