Newscopy: "START OF THE START--A huge, 115-foot prestressed pile is lowered into a 100-foot hole at the site of new Wells Fargo Building at Sutter and Montgomery streets. It marks the first operation in constructing the 43-story structure. Actually, it is a test to determine the precise soil and rock conditions to be encountered during the placing of the Wells Fargo foundation. Four steel piles will be driven Thursday, also part of tests."
