Newscopy: "This large, modified 'Queen Anne' house at 2007 Franklin St. was built in 1887 by William Haas, one of the founders of the wholesale liquor supply house. It is one of the best examples of its highly ornate kind in The City. Thereafter houses got simpler. The interior floors are golden oak and some of the walls are stamped leather. In 1909 Haas' daughter, Alice, married Samuel Lilienthal, who became president of Haas Brothers. He died in 1937 and his widow has continued to live in and maintain the house in its original style. Very few such large Victorian homes are still single family residences.".
