On back: "HE'S A 'ROPEMAN'--J. P. Oliva sits amid the great wheels of the power plant, watching the 18,600-foot cable of the California-st section for breaks. It takes 19 minutes, 45 seconds for the long 230-ton loop on that section to make one trip out of the Hyde and California-sts power plant and back. Big electric motors furnish the power. The plant smells strongly of pine tar with which the cable is treated."
