Newscopy: "Mushroom cloud pictured here fascinated motorists on the Bay Bridge today. It looked like a miniature A-bomb, but they knew it couldn't be, and they were right. It was a mock atomic bomb, with TNT and gasoline for firepower, touched off at Treasure Island in Navy demonstration. The ominous smoke could be seen from San Francisco, but caused no panic or even phone calls to police and newspapers. Sequence photos were taken by United Press photographer Jack Holper, using 35 mm. Canon camera with wide angle lens at 1/1000 of a second. Navy announced it will touch off bigger mock bomb Oct. 12."
