Newscopy: "A spectacular four-alarm fire mushroomed through two hugh [sic] buildings on Treasure Island yesterday. Navy spokesmen refused to estimate damage, but San Francisco fire officials said it might run as high as $250,000. The two -hour fire suddenly broke out in an empty warehouse, jumped to a second building and for a time threatened ships docked along the western edge of the island."
Newscopy, Cont'd: "TUG EVACUATED--A tug was ordered to evacuate its berth, and two larger ships were told to be ready to sail. The fire apparently began in the three-story northwest corner of the sprawling warehouse, the south wing of which was leveled in a pre-dawn fire three weeks ago. Only a skeleton frame of the north wing was standing after yesterday's blaze. Navy and San Francisco fire inspectors were hesitant to guess the cause of the blaze that sent flames hundreds of feet in the air and left a rolling cloud of thic [sic], black smoke over the island. THREE INJURED--Three San Francisco firemen were hurt in the blaze...."
