Newscopy: "Right, Miss Berry hangs drape over a wardrobe. To reduce construction costs, no closets were built in the bedrooms. Instead, clothes rods were installed. The chest of drawers behind Miss Berry is one of several made for the home at Samuel Gompers Trades School. Cost of the home construction and the site, formerly a collection of neighborhood victory gardens, totaled $200,000. The project so far was achieved with $105,000 from the board's treasury raised by public subscriptions, plus a borrowed $50,000."
