Examiner (12/18/53) Testing a roast beef at Mount Zion Hospital's kitchen is Fred Aeberhard (center), chef of Rickey's Studio Inn in Palo Alto; while Gus Schmid (right), chef of the Fairmont Hotel; and Bob Ortiz, (left) chef of Mount Zion, look on. Aeberhard will be the first of a series of guest 'chefs for a day' at Mount Zion Hospital today, when he takes over planning and supervision of the evening meal at the hospital, which the hospital's staff will prepare. He will be followed by Schmid and a number of other culinary artists from the bay area's leading restaurants and hotels, each of whom will supervise one meal a month for the hospital's patients to improve the variety of their meals and their morale as well."
