On back: "The above photo shows two 500-ton hydraulic jacks bolted to the east side of Tower W-2 on the San Francisco shoreline. Bolted to the saddle, the jack acts against the tower immediately below the saddle. The hydraulic pressure put into the 12-1/2 inch cylinder of the jack through a quarter-inch diameter metal tube, operated by a hand pump, forced the tower over 16 inches west for its final adjustment to its cable saddle. The saddle was originally placed four feet seven inches west of the center of the tower and in four separate jacking operations, of 6 inches, 17 inches, 16 inches, and another 16 inches respectively, was brought to proper position.".
