AUTOMOBILES ON THE SAN FRANCISCO-OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE - Both the upper and lower decks of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge are now paved for more than a mile out from the eastern terminal. This great distance is covered by engineers inspecting the progress of the bridge in station cars, one of which is shown here. This car claims the distinction of being the first to negotiate the world's largest bridge. It was purchased by the State of California from the W. L. Hughson Agency. It has now run up almost 3,000 miles on its speedometer, traveling back and forth on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.".
