WORM'S-EYE VIEW OF BRIDGE CAISSON - Underneath the world's largest bridge caisson, 92 feet wide by 197 feet long, which will be launched today (Friday) at the Moore Dry Docks, Oakland, when a beribboned bottle will be broken over its 'prow' by Mrs. C. H. Purcell, wife of the Chief Engineer of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The caisson will be sunk through mud and clay to bedrock and form the bottom of a concrete and steel structure extending 478-1/2 feet from the floor of the bay to a point 298-1/2 feet above water, midway between San Francisco and Yerba Buena Island. 8-10-33".
