On back: "ACME NEWSPICTURES SAN FRANCISCO BUREAU SF 11476. FIREBOATS BATTLE FLAMING BRIDGE FIRE - A spectacular fire that started from a white hot rivet dropped on creosote soaked piling forced twelve workmen on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, longest in the world, to jump into San Francisco Bay but did little actual damage to the great span. It was the bridge's first fire, and likely to be its last, bridge officials said, inasmuch as the bridge is constructed entirely of steel. Photo shows a fireboat battling the blaze while dense clouds of smoke roll from the bridge pier fender. (BUREAUS) 4-6-36".
