The teachers and children of John Muir School planned a yard beautification project that involved painting a mural on the wall and fence of the school playground. Mrs. Verla Leonard, the art supervisor for John Muir, released available funds to pay an artist, Trish Lindstrom, as a consultant. The John Muir P.T.A. also contributed funds to complete the project.."

The stories were varied with subjects including - Humpty Dumpty; Little Miss Muffet; Giant John; Charlie Brown; Hansel and Gretel; Little Red Riding Hood; Three Little Pigs; Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater; Jack and the Beanstalk; Jack and Jill; Lollipop Dragon; Horton Hatches the Egg; Five Chinese Brothers; King's Birthday; Fat Albert; Put Me in the Zoo; Danny and the Dinosaur; Tropical Scenery.
