Newscopy: "Work halted on Pacific Coast waterfronts today while maritime workers commemorated the bloody battle of July 5, 1934, (Bloody Thursday) in which two strikers were shot and killed by police. The picture shows an honor guard - including the representative of war veterans' post - stationed at Steuart and Mission-sts, where the 1934 deaths occurred. One of the men killed was a war veteran. Waterfront workers have observed July 5 by work stoppages ever since the killings, which preceded the general strike.".
