Newscopy: "Mount Zion Hospital was hit today by a sitdown strike of 33 laboratory technicians and office workers. The sitdown was touched off by a snarl in negotiations for wage increases and union recognition. Dr. J. A. Katzive, director of Mount Zion, said about 9:30 a. m. the girls filed into his office. Mrs. Ketty Johnson, a laboratory worker, and spokesman for the group, handed him a statement protesting asserted discrimination against the employes and insisting that the hospital negotiate a contract with the Medical Technical and Office Employes Union, an affiliate of the A. F. L. Hospital and Institutional Workers Local 250."
