Newscopy: "Telephone work stoppages spread across the nation today as operators refused to cross new and increasing picket lines of striking Western Electric Co. installers and sales employes. Picketing by both the Western Electric men and 6500 striking Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. plant workers was general here and elsewhere in Northern California. In the Bay Area the non-striking Independent Repeatermen and Toll Test Boardmen joined the picket lines, accusing the P. T. & T. of a 'lockout.' TOLL CALLS GOING THROUGH - Despite continued extensive picketing, a company spokesman said 'we are taking care of all toll calls.' The striking C. I. O. Communications Workers of America called out all San Francisco members - and other P. T. & T. employes - to a morning mass meeting at Polk Hall."
