In the foreground is the San Francisco Terminal, where 50,000 commuters arrive daily for work in the city. Trains run on the lower deck of the bridge, which also has a three-lane truck and stage road. The six-lane upper deck is reserved for passenger autos. The Fair buildings rise upper left. The bridge was a $77,250,000 enterprise."
