Folder: S.F. Parades-St. Patrick's Day.
Newscopy: "Yesterday's St. Patrick's Day parade, an annual spectacle in San Francisco, included of course, the Irish Bagpipes, shown as they passed reviewing stand at Civic Center. Behind them march the Irish drill team."
Newscopy: "The Irish (and who wasn't for the occasion?) painted the town green yesterday, as they marched and danced and pranced up Market-st for three hours in their annual St. Patrick's Day parade. The skies which dripped in the morning, had cleared by parade time. Spectators crowded the line of march from the Ferry Building to the Civic Center with its two reviewing stands, one occupied by the city and state dignitaries and the other by parade judges. Pace of the marchers was set by limousine of Governor and Mrs. Earl Warren at the head of the parade. Nine divisions followed them. There were bands, floats and marching units from a number of Bay Area bases. The Chinese were there with their St. Mary's drill team and their drum corps. There were Mexican, Italian, Austrian and Swiss among the nationality groups. Fraternal orders by the score joined the fun. And, as usual, the majorettes, with their twirling batons and swirling skirts, drew most comment."
