Folder: S.F. Ships-Freighters.
Written on back: "American Export Lines has signed contracts with Federal Maritime Board and ship builders to start immediate construction of four new type 181/2-knot freighters of 10,210 dead weight tons for New York Mediterranean trade, at a cost to the company of $28 millions. Two will be constructed by National Steel and Ship Building Corporation, Camden, N.J. These are the first contracts to be allocated by the Government under Public Law 805 to distribute work to ship yards on all coasts in the interest of national defense. Construction of these four vessels will assure 3,200 man-years of work to the two ship building centers."
