Newscopy: "SKIPPER OFFERS FERRY TO EASE HOUSING SHORTAGE - R.L. Stanley can no longer have the run of his 'ship'. The ex-ferryboat Cazadero seen in background at its mooring place in the bay at Sausalito, near here. Stanley, a carpenter, saved the Cazadero from wreckers a few months ago by buying it outright. Sentimental memories of many rides on the ferry impelled him to make the purchase, but afterward he saw the possibilities of making it into a floating hotel for shipyard and war industry workers. His plan was rejected by various agencies until the War Shipping Board stepped in with an o.k. with living quarters for some 200 men. The Cazadero will contribute heavily to the war effort and at the same time relieve the Bay Area housing shortage."
