Newscopy: "STRICKEN SHIP - The Flora C. is towed into the Golden Gate today by the tug Sea Prince. The Liberty Ship, which left here last week for Long Beach, was taken in tow off Pt. Sur after losing her propeller. The Liberty Ship Flora C, under tow by the tug Sea Prince, passed under the Golden Gate Bridge shortly before 7 a.m. today. The Flora C lost her propeller Friday afternoon off the Monterey Coast and was taken under tow shortly after noon Saturday 54 miles south of Pt. Sur. Heavy seas and strong north-westerly winds slowed the tow, but the vessel was reported in good shape today as she arrived in the Bay. The Flora C was bound for Long Beach from here when the accident occurred. A Coast Guard patrol boat yesterday towed the 67-foot schooner Ranger to port after its pilot signaled the vessel's rudder had been lost off Ocean Beach. A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched to the scene, but returned when notified the schooner was in no danger. The Ranger is owned by David R. Sears of San Mateo."
