Written on back: "New life raft made to U.S. Maritime specifications: Los Angeles, Calif... This new unsinkable life-raft, made of 16-guage cold rolled steel, is 16 feet 2 inches long with an 8 foot beam, and has a bow to aid sailing or rowing. It's outershell containing 19 airtight compartments, is 3 feet in diameter and it so much buoyancy that it only sinks 6 1/2 inches under it's maximum load of 20 men. Entirely empty each raft weighs 2425 pounds, to which is added more than a half ton of supplies and equipment ranging from mast, oars and sails to food, blankets and fishing kits and sea anchor, storm oil, Bible, and playing cards. No matter how the raft hits the water they always float topside up, for both sides are exactly alike. This welder is assembling completed sections of the new raft. 4/27/44.
