Written on front: "A POST STREET LANDMARK NOW GONE. The castellated structure shown in this engraving was the old armory of companies C and G, National Guard. Company G was organized there. The lot was purchased by company C for $3,500 in 1864, and sold for $38,000. The armory was dedicated December 26th, 1864, over the remains in state of Rev. Thomas Starr King."
