Written on back: The Symphony Orchestra of the WPA Federal Music Project started its tour of Northern California towns last night (Friday, October 9) in Stockton. The plans of taking the seventy-piece WPA Federal Music Project Symphony Orchestra to smaller communities during the Fall and Winter is winning unanimous applause on the part of music leaders in San Francisco, and in towns to be visited by the WPA Orchestra. There will be one concert in each in each community under the local sponsorship of music and civic leaders. Ernst Bacon, a musician of rare musical achievement, is conductor of the San Francisco WPA Orchestra; his assistant is Ben Bauer. In Stockton last night, (Friday, October 9) the Federal Music Project Symphony Orchestra played at the High School Auditorium, and Manlio Silva, conductor of the Stockton Symphony, was guest conductor in the opening number on the program, the G Major Haydn Symphony. The balance of the program included 'Concerto Grosso' by Vivaldi, and 'Elegie' for 'cello and orchestra Faure' with Analee Camp, 'cellist, as soloist. All of these Symphony concerts are paid admission events. The general 10 and 25 cents rule prevailing."
