Newscopy: "FEDERAL WORKS AGENCY. SECTION OF FINE ARTS--'Gold Discovered at Sutter's Mill' by Anton Refregier of Woodstock, New York. This is one of 27 preliminary designs comprising a mural scheme depicting THE HISTORY OF SAN FRANCISCO. Mr. Refregier's designs won for him the national open anonymous competition held by the Section of Fine Arts for the decoration of the long ell shaped lobby of the San Francisco, Calif. Post Office, Rincon Annex. The jury recommending the award was comprised of Victor Arnautoff, mural painter, San Francisco, Arnold Blanch, painter, New York, Philip Guston, painter, formerly of Los Angeles, and Gilbert S. Underwood, architect of the building. The main lobby is 208 feet long and the ell opening off of it is 34 feet long. The murals will be painted on the wall in casein tempera.
