Newscopy: "250 BOY SCOUTS WRAP UP PARK JUBILEE--Except for footprints and tent pole holes, you'd never know today that some 250 youngsters had camped in the Lake Metson area of Golden Gate Park over the weekend. The youngsters, members of 16 troops of the Mission Trails District of the Boy Scouts, policed the area thoroughly when they completed the golden jubilee Camporee yesterday afternoon. They set up camp Saturday morning, and between then and cleanup time, went through five different inspections that covered their gear, campcraft, commisssary methods, personal cleanliness and uniform and their camp sites. There were also competitions in scoutcraft and patrolling and bonus points for camp construction. The lads brought in everything they needed for the two days, except water, planned their own menus, chopped their kindling, even dried their garbage on h[...] stones before burning it. Awards were given before the boys left the campsite yesterday and each patrol received participation [...]. SNACK TIME at the golden jubilee Camporee at Golden Gate Park finds Explorer Scouts (from left) Denis Loesch, Ronald Romaine, George Nichols, Bob Neal, Claude Ashen and Harrison Holton roasting hot dogs.
