Written on back: "Industrial Pittsburg, located 40 miles east of San Francisco, will soon be a deepwater port. Work is progressing rapidly on a 600 foot concrete dock to accommodate ocean-going vessels as part of a $25,000,000 expansion of Columbia Steel Company's Pittsburg Plant. When completed, this U.S. Steel subsidiary will have ship to rail facilities for handling raw materials and finished products in connection with the plant's new cold reduction steel sheet and tinplate mill. In building the dock, it was necessasry to drive 1500 wood and pre-cast concrete piles. Other dockage facilities will include a 260 foot finger wharf for barges as well as railroad approaches.
