Yard One), first of the four yards at Richmond, taken at the height of the Liberty shipbuilding program. On the seven ways at right are ships in various stages of completion while at the docks are five vessels being outfitted. At top of picture are the Prefabrication plant (left) where deckhouses were assembled, and the Boiler Assembly building (right). The shipyard stands on reclaimed land which was virtually all mudflats 22 prior to January, 1941, when construction began. ALAM 12519. Aug 8, 1944".
