Newscopy: "CUTTING THROUGH Embarcadero traffic like a scythe, this skyway project between Harrison and Vallejo sts. moves slowly but surely. This picture, taken from the tower of the Ferry Building, shows how the Embarcadero Freeway swings around towards Broadway. The 1.2-mile double-deck freeway is costing $7,800,000 and is due for completion in July, 1959. In the foreground only the lower level has been completed. It will carry traffic towards Broadway, while the upper level will take it towards the Bay Bridge. Coit Tower dominates the scene, with Alcatraz in the background. (News Photo)".
