Folder: S.F. Freeways-Embarcadero.
Written on back: "The heavy H piling section (foreground) is a part of nearly 8,000 tons of steel which will go into the 111 footings forming the base of the substructure that will eventually become the new Embarcadero Freeway in San Francisco. Macco Corporation's pile-driver has been in action on the freeway for the past several months, driving these sections to bedrock at a depth of 70 to 220 feet. The Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Corp. supplies the H piling for this and other highway projects in California. The prime contractor is Charles L. Harney Inc., San Francisco.
