The silver photographs are of family member, view of the Newhall residences, their yacht, and the Newhall building in San Francisco. In addition to the photographs, this volume includes a family genealogy, brief biographies of H. M. Newhall and E. W. Newhall, obituaries for Edwin Whie Newhall and numerous resolutions and testimonial letters. E. W. Newhall was the third son of Henry Mayo Newhall, founder of the H. M. Newhall & Co. Edwin joined the firm and extended its holdings of oil and realty in California. He was the Secretary of the Newhall Land and Farming Company and worked his vast property at Rancho San Francisco, now known as the Newhall Ranch, in the mountains between Los Angeles and Bakersfield. This beautiful vanity publication for the Newhall family was most likely printed by Paul Elder & Co. A companion volume for Virginia Whiting Newhall, Jr., was designed and printed by this noted San Francisco firm.
