Folder: S.F. Streets-Myra Way.
Newscopy: "The scene surveyed in photo above by two neighborhood children - Leslie Bell, 5, left, and Tommy Ingram, 4, of 579 and 567 Myra-way, respectively - includes a ditch dug to repair a water main break blamed by residents on overloaded trucks moving through their streets."
Newscopy: "To a woman, almost, they agree that the traffic of heavy earth-moving equipment through the district will continue endangering their children and damaging their property until city officials act to control the speed of the trucks and the size of the loads they carry. Part of the material on the move is dirt from a major excavation for home sites on the southeastern slope of Mt. Davidson; the rest is from a rock quarry there. 'These trucks,' reads a petition signed by 44 residents, 'have ruined the streets and are keeping our houses dirty inside and out. The vibration has caused unnecessary cracking and strain in our homes. It is dangerous for our children, going to and from school.'".
