All requests for permission to publish from photographs must be submitted in writing to the Photo Curator. Permission for publication is given on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library as the owner of the physical items.
Shades of Western Addition, Shades of San Francisco Donor description: House at Steiner Street from the late 1800's survived the eartquake but not redevelopment in 1960's; it was leveled by the city. Fought the city and won a larger settlement. Photo taken maybe early 1940's. Donor lived there until the 1960's. Libby Holman lived in the basement apartment (cabaret singer) in the 1920's.
