Newscopy: "Roscoe (Fatty) Arbuckle, famous motion picture comedian, is to be "held in custody" pending the outcome of the police investigation in to the death of Miss Virginia Rappe, a motion picture actress, following a party in Arbuckle's suite in the St. Francis Hotel. Mis Rappe's death, an autopsy disclosed, was the result of congestion of the lungs superinduced by peritonitis. Arbuckle said Miss Rappe "Had one or two drinks" after which she became hysterical. A physician was called and the young woman was sent to a hospital where she died.".
