Newscopy: "But not so quiet on Van Ness-av - and yet the traffic lights turn red and green alternately, and slow up rationed automobiles waiting for the 'go' signal. Incidentally, when this picture was taken at 2:45 p. m., the auto on O'Farrell-st was the only moving vehicle in more than two blocks. But look at the number of autos tied up on both sides of Van Ness-av!".
