On back: "SAN FRANCISCO, Mar. 9--WORD OF WARNING TO BEACH LOVERS--A mounted policeman gestures as he orders a group of teen-age beach lovers to abandon a beach bonfire (foreground) and move to higher ground after a warning was issued that a tidal wave was expected to hit this area as the aftermath of a strong Aleutian earthquake. In background (left) are hundreds of automobiles which crowded San Francisco's 'playland at the beach' after the tidal wave 'warning' had been broadcast. No perceptible rise in water was recorded at this beach.".
