Newscopy: "The tides ran high and so did the surf at Ocean beach yesterday, with the result that a section (indicated by arrow) of the old Lurline Pier collapsed. The accident broke a pipeline which feeds a four-million-gallon reservoir at Geary-blvd and Masonic-av. Repair crews worked on the pipe today. The pier stretches into the ocean between Balboa and Cabrillo-sts. There was no relationship, however, between the heavy surf here and an Indonesian tidal wave reported yesterday."
