Newscopy: "San Francisco dock's of today and those of 1860 are shown herewith and the improvement is notable. The old photograph was taken at the foot of Vallejo street before the civil war. The vessels are picturesque but lack the safety, utility, speed, capacity and beauty of the modern leviathans. Water front facilities were somewhat crude, also, the picture shows."
