Folder: S.F. Districts-Waterfront-1870. Newscopy: "ONCE QUEEN OF THE SEAS--Photographed so long ago that the date is now a matter of speculation the clipper ship Young America was one of the finest ships under the American Flag. She ran between San Francisco, New York and Liverpool. The photograph was made about 1865 and is one of the treasures of the chamber of commerce marine department art gallery. Old timers recall that Captain Cummings was her master. The second photograph, made at the foot of Sansome street by the Illustrated Daily Herald, shows the changes that have taken place in the water front since the Young America lay alongside the pier nearly sixty years ago.".
