Newscopy: "Perhaps it isn't only the possibility that he will conduct business affairs in his new mansion that bothers the neighbors, Charles Dederich, founder and chief of Synanon, suggested today. It may also be, he said, the 'rather integrated' nature of his household that has aroused members of the plush Clay-Cherry Neighborhood Association. The neighbors said they were alarmed that Dederich - whose Synanon organization is devoted to rehabilitating drug addicts - might treat some of his charges at the 3905 Clay St. mansion. They called on him Wednesday night for assurances, then announced they planned to hold a meeting and inquire whether Dederich's household might violate R-1 residential zoning for the neighborhood..."
