Folder: S.F. Transportation-Cable Cars-Accidents. Newscopy: "Four persons were injured and four autos wrecked today as a runaway cable car plunged at terrific speed down the Washington-st hill, scarring and gouging the street for three blocks. Three of the injured, two women and a child, were thrown from the car as it careened madly down hill, slewing sidewise in its course. The conductor also was hurt. They were taken to Harbor Emergency Hospital. Approximately 20 other passengers escaped injury. Some jumped. The accident took place shortly after 11 a. m., when the eastbound cable car lost its left rear shoe as it started down the Washington-st hill at Jones-st."
