Newscopy: "This is the main cell block on Alcatraz, showing the three tiers of cells, from which Arthur ("Doc") Barker and four companions escaped today. The five felons were locked in the lower tier. After cutting their way from the cells, they cut a barred window and fled into the fog. A guard, making the routine 4 a.m. count, discovered the men missing and spread the alarm."
